Hi, I’m Andrew!
I am the director of The Garden Family Medical Clinic in Murdoch & Piara Waters.
I trained in medicine, graduating in 2009 at Notre Dame University in Fremantle.
I grew up in Melbourne. I’m married to Tanya, and we have two girls, Charlotte and Isabelle, they are the Centrepoint of my life. Before The Garden I have been involved in a number of projects including speaking about kids’ mental health for the GP college (RACGP) and at a number of conferences in Australia and Internationally. Alongside mental health, I also have an interest in family health, men’s health, skin checks and small procedures like toenail resections, iron infusions and skin lesion removals.
The most inspiring part of my work is seeing families over a long period of time, I feel like I almost become part of the family in many respects as I have the privilege of hearing so many personal life stories. No two lives are the same, being a doctor has taught me that we are all so unique and this means treatments also need to be carefully tailored for each individual.
The best piece of advice I’ve ever been given is to take every opportunity. I feel this is what has brought me to the Garden, one of the greatest opportunities of my lifetime.

What I love most about general practice is the opportunity to work with people through all stages of life. It is such a privilege to be able to build strong relationships with my patients and families over time, and I believe that by working together as a team we can achieve the best outcomes for your physical and mental health.
While I enjoy the breadth of general practice, my interests lie in:
- Child and adolescent health

Being a mum of three, I am passionate about supporting children and families through the many challenges that come along with family life.
When I’m not at work, I’m kept very busy by my young family. I enjoy exploring parks and Perth’s many wide-open spaces, swimming, and watching the footy – go Swans! On the occasions it is quiet, I love reading (particularly fantasy fiction) and am working steadily with my kids on overrunning the house with LEGO.
General Practitioner
Dr Peter Smith
Hi, my name is Peter and I have been a rural and remote GP since 2003, having spent time in the Pilbara, Gascoyne, Goldfields and more recently wheatbelt regions. My wife, Eleanor and family of Ashley, Emma and Jessica have been part of this amazing journey.
At the Nickol Bay Hospital in Karratha, I was the senior medical officer steering the service through a difficult time and to a small degree contributing to State Government recognition that a more improved service was urgently needed for the vibrant community of the Pilbara.
After all my children completed high school, we relocated to Perth to enable them to embark on tertiary studies. Ashley is now a history high school teacher, Emma and Jess are GPs in the SW.
My remote work continued at Carnarvon for two years before moving to Narrogin to assist with the Rural Clinical School as a medical co-ordinator. Our students were privileged to be involved with deliveries of babies and end of life care with all aspects of family medicine in between.
During this time I have also assisted with GP training with WAGPET and more recently with RVTS enabling remote and rural doctors to become skilled GPs.
Our family has grown as we have welcomed two grandsons, Spencer and Gus born this year. We are thrilled at the way they are growing and developing.
My emphasis in general practice is to assist all patients to achieve their optimal health. I have done extensive work in nutrition and lifestyle medicine and see my role to encourage and motivate change in an holistic approach to good health.

These things include all things hands-on, such as; clinic-based surgical procedures, removal and implantation of contraceptive devices, iron infusions, workplace medical clearances, fracture management, wound management, and management of minor injuries.
